〃SJ-World is recruiting for a new mod group: The Lumieres〃
→ Who are the lumieres?
The Lumieres is the name of the new group we've been mentioning since we opened "Compared to you I'm a genius" - our team of language Moderators! Each language thread will have one or two Moderators, fluent in that language, who will be expected to maintain and take care of their individual topic.

Inspiration for the name came from the Disney movie "The Beauty and the Beast", specifically the character Lumière. Additionally it refers to the "Century of the Lumières" (or "the Age of Enlightenment" in English), which was a period of history recognised for the spread of accessible knowledge, characterised by authors such as Montesquieu, Voltaire, Diderot, Rousseau and Beaumarchais.
So, to tie in with those meanings, in SJ-World the Lumiere team is intended to be both enlightening and helpful, as well as knowledgeable within the specific area of language!
They'll each be responsible for their language thread and will have full mod powers, allowing them to delete and edit posts, and warn users. They'll also be expected to generally monitor the thread for rulebreaking or inappropriate posts, and report back when necessary.
→ If you have already sent an application in the past
Firstly, we'd like to apologize for leaving this so late and not getting back to everyone who applied for this staff position! We had hoped to have everything finalised and the new Moderators chosen weeks ago, but we were just too busy with forum projects to find time until now
To be fair, we're not going to make anyone fill out the application all over again (unless you want to!). So, if you applied before to moderate a language thread, and you're still interested and want your original application to be used, please send a PM to either Alice or bubblekitten before Sunday, November 22nd.
→ If you want to send an application
To send a staff application you just need to go here or go to "My Controls", then on the left menu click "Apply to be in the SJ-World Staff". Select "Apply for Lumiere" and fill up the whole form, then submit!
Anyone who can speak a language besides English is welcome and encouraged to join this team! Our priority is to find people who think they'd be able to moderate the most active threads - Malay, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian, German, etc. ^^
Thank you for your interest!
The SJ-World Staff
