E X P L A N A T I O N
of the Fan part of Shindong's Birthday Project!

The Fan part of Shindong's birthday project consists of sending handmade, bought, and printed birthday cards to him to show him that hundreds of fans are sending him well wishes.

Send your cards for the fan project in time for it to be received before September 28th.

Please follow the guidelines carefully to know what you can and CANNOT write on the card.

Please do not decide to NOT take part in this project just because you don't want to ship out of the country. In order for this project to work, everyone must ship your items. Shipping a flat item like a birthday card should cost no more than around $1.50USD for first class if you send asap.

PLEASE read everything thoroughly before asking questions, starting your card, or shipping!

Type Of Birthday Cards Allowed

Handmade Cards:
↘ Must be no larger than 5 inches x 7 inches when folded;
↘ Limit material to paper products such as printer paper, cardboard, construction paper, etc;
↘ Can be any shape (other than food besides birthday cakes or anything offensive. Please read this in our guidelines);


Bought Cards:
↘ Can be bought at most local shops;
↘ Must be no larger than 5 inches x 7 inches when folded;
↘ Obviously, unless you're in Korea, they will not be in Korean. Please keep all text on the card simple. A "Happy Birthday" on the outside in your native tongue is okay or the same on the inside. None of those complex ones telling how you feel or jokes;
↘ No musical birthday cards;
↘ You can write and draw on the insides as long as they follow our guidelines;


Printed Cards:
↘ Must be made with a birthday card application, such as the one in Microsoft Word/Works;
↘ Must be 8 inches x11 inches before folding;
↘ You must print the card yourself and mail it in;
↘ The card MUST be folded;
↘ The outside design can be any picture you choose as long as it follows our guidelines;

G U I D E L I N E S

Birthday card decoration:
↘ You are allowed to decorate the birthday cards as you did for the Leeteuk/Heechul templates;
↘ You can decorate them with pictures of: Super Junior, Shindong, and E.L.F.
↘ You can use stickers (hearts, stars, animals, etc.)
↘ You can draw on the birthday cards;

What MUST be inside the Birthday Card:
↘ You have to write (possibly in big characters): 신동 생일축하합니다 OR Happy Birthday, Shindong in Korean or English
↘ Under 신동 생일축하합니다 or Happy Birthday, Shindong you may write Happy Birthday in your native language:
↘ For example, in Spanish: "¡Feliz Cumpleaños!"
↘ Username @ sj-world.net ( example: ♬thea @ sj-world.net )
↘ Your city and country ( example: Los Angeles, California, USA )

What you CAN write on the birthday card:
↘ Your real name;
↘ "I love you" in any language (we encourage you to write it in your native language, and add a translation in English, or Korean);
↘ You can NOT WRITE ENGLISH UNLESS PROVIDING THE KOREAN AS WELL and they must be very short sentences only. Please remember that Shindong is only fluent in Korean.
↘ If writing extra please make sure they are:
↘↘ Grammatically correct
↘↘ Polite, respectful, not too informal
↘↘ Not offensive in any way
↘ EXTRA: if you want to write Korean words, but don't know how to, here are some to help you:

IMPORTANT ⇒ you can ask in this thread for the translation of a word or a VERY SHORT sentence; long sentences will get ignored. Please also remember that we're busy, so we might take a while to reply. In case we take longer than 2 days to reply, I suggest you write the sentence in a language you know instead.

What you can NOT put in the birthday card:
↘ Pictures of yourself or friends, family, pets, etc;
↘ Profanity;
↘ Offensive or sexual content;
↘ No references to a particular stance (ONLY13, 15, etc.);
↘ No explicit or ridiculous love declarations, such as "marry me" etc.;
↘ No blog / email / facebook / website (etc.) addresses;
IMPORTANT ⇒ Cards with birthday cakes on them are accepted, but if there is any other type of food printed or drawn by the fan on them that isn't related to birthday celebrations will result in us not delivering that particular card. And if any other rule is broken (such as writing long messages, including your email address, letters, your phone number, your picture, etc.), your card will not be accepted.

What to do before sending the birthday card:
↘ Put the birthday card in an envelope;
↘ Write the Korean address from this post on the envelope;
↘ Write your username on the back of the envelope;
↘ Send your birthday card for the fan project in time for it to be received before September 28th;

What to do after sending the birthday card:
↘ Post this code in a new reply in this thread:

but my problem is that almost all birthday cards that are sold in stores already have messages inside..i will try all the stores in our city to find a card that's no messages inside..
and if i will handcraft it, i will fail im not good in arts, as well in graphics, so my only hope is to buy the card..

i will do my best just like the pervious birtday projects...

Its okay if it has a little message inside, as long as its very simple english. ^^ Or you can cover up inside messages with a sticker or something if you don't think he'd understand it. We understand that on bought cards, it will be a bit difficult to find one without.

Yes, they must be folded. We want Shindong to open each of them, so we'll keep the style similar for everyone in that aspect.
