The 22nd SJ-World Project:
〃To Kangin from E.L.F. 〃

PICTURE SUBMISSION

This is a project we really want to do for Super Junior's #1 Handsome Guy (Crazy Guy/Raccoon), Kangin.

We first thought we had until October to prepare and put together this project so we started out slowly, but after Kangin’s announcement to enter into the army in July, we now have to move quickly.

As we do not think we will be able to have this done in time for July, we will deliver this project to Kangin during his first permission days. This should be after the first 5 weeks of training, which will probably be near the end of August/September depending on his exact entry date. We would like all VIDEO entries to be submitted by JULY 21st 12pm NOON Korean Time so we can have enough time to prepare the project after submissions for delivery.


♥ 뭐? WHAT IS IT? ㅡ

We want to make a video of E.L.F. from all over the world reading a pre-written letter (shown below) for Kangin. Each person will have a little sentence to say, and then we will put the sentences one after another until it makes a full letter to him… all in Korean!

It's OK if you don't speak Korean! We have prepared everything you need to teach you how to say your part (audio, romanisation, karaoke, etc). The final video will also be hardsubbed in Korean, for when Kangin can't understand our accents~!

If we have enough participations, we will ask everyone to also record themselves saying things like "We will wait for you!" and "See you in 2012!" in their own languages and we can put those messages at the end of the video.

To help you see what it looks like, the staff made a little example video. It's short and only has the beginning of the letter, but it can give you an idea of what the final result will look like and what we want to do!

› View the Preview Example Video done by the staff members demonstrating how our video message is going to look like HERE.
› You need a device of some sort to create a HIGH QUALITY recording of yourself with audio. IE - digital camera, webcam, cell phone, etc.
› Carefully review the guidelines and if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc please reply in this thread only!
› DO NOT PM any of the staff members!
› Keep in mind that we need TOTAL COMMITMENT on your part for this project to be successful!
› We have a limited amount of people who can participate in the video message to Kangin.

›› RECORDING REQUIREMENTS & TIPS ‹‹
› If you do not want to show your face, you are welcome to wear a mask or hat, but DO NOT COVER YOUR MOUTH.
› You are welcome to have more than one person in the video, but we still will only assign one line per video submission.
› We need to see your head and shoulders! No super close ups please!
› Record in quiet and well lit area.
› Make sure there is no background noise (music, tv, loud appliances, other people, etc)
› If recording during the night time, use a lamp to light up your face.
› Make sure that you stay in FOCUS throughout the video!
› Do not use the zoom feature. You need to stay close to the camera so that we can hear you loud and clear!
› Try not to hold your camera if filming yourself, it will be too shaky, try stacking some books or other objects to prop up your camera.
› Record with 2 or 3 seconds of silence BEFORE & AFTER your line. This will help when we merge all the videos together.
› REMEMBER the Deadline! JULY 21st, 12pm NOON, Korean Time!

Photobucket is like youtube - we would have to rip the video. So no you can't use it.

Megaupload and Mediafire aren't difficult. It has click by click instructions on how to upload your video and then we can download it directly.

we had a urgency msn talk earlier with some other staff bb who took part of this rofl
we hadn't been expecting so many participations
so we will wait 24hours so it won't be unfair for people who are now sleeping / at work / in class, everyone will have a chance to submit an application.
then tomorrow around this time we will pick the 30 people of the letter according of their country, their korean level, their participation in the forum etc.
Then we will also pick as many people as we can for the sentences in their own languages ^^ (also according to which sentence they picked so we have as many of each~)
There will still be people who applied and are not in and we will ask them to take pictures so we can put them on the intro and ending of the video as well.
We really hope we can fit everyone in the end but we might not T_T the best would be for people who live in the same city to take the videos / pictures together ><

If there turns out to be a lot more participants than expected, would it be feasible to make it like 1 word/phrase per person?

for example:

Maybe getting each participant to say the original sentence then from there you guys can decide which word/phrase would be used for the actual video?

I figured that although it'll mean a lot more work to be done like cutting and joining the videos, but since the original expected closing date for applications was set as 1st of July, you could close earlier when you've gotten enough people (if the response is as overwhelming as it has been so far), then that way there's more time to do the cutting and joining, editing and stuff.

Just a suggestion I thought could be considered :) So that way more people can be fit into the video... although it would mean a lot lesser and somewhat unequal "air time" for each person but I'm sure no one would mind. ^^

Edit: To add on, I thought the video may end up looking messy if using this method but if the video will have subs it should be quite okay... would it? lol

thank you for your suggestion. we did think about this as we planned the project - but... yes, it would be quite messy and an editing nightmare. it took me more than 2 hours just to merge 5 videos for the staff example video (of course i'm not an expert at this.. so that also contributed to me learning as i was doing).. lol.. if there was separate cuts for each word/phrase.. i would probably pull out all my hair. haha.

we are trying our best to accommodate as many elfs from sj-world as possible into this video - of course we will not be able to get every single person in it because of the 10min video limit. but we will try our best!! Thats why we are having the added videos of people speaking their native languages at the end as well as accepting photographs that will be shown at the beginning and end of the letter. ;)

1. if you have a speaking part of the letter - i would say, no. the tone of the letter doesn't really call for gestures.. ;) but for the other videos such as 'we love you!' 'see you in 2010!' etc - gestures are welcome ^^
2. Of course! but please stay away from things that say 'only13' '15+' etc.
3. Yes! again - please stay away from posters such as 'only13' '15+' etc. Remember SJ-World neutrally supports anything Super Junior. And as participation in this video you are not only representing yourself, you are representing E.L.F., your country, and SJ-World ^^
