Dear SJ-WORLD members,

As many of you probably know already, a controversial issue concerning 2PM Leader Park Jaebum arose.

While some of us may have diverging opinions on what he did to have the most recent events occur, we should stop and take a moment to reflect on this. Despite his humble and heartfelt apologies, he was still met with resistance; although all 2PM activities have been suspended for the time being, Jaebum made the drastic decision of leaving the group.

Considering how this situation started and was handled, it is painfully obvious that Jaebum was actually forced to give up on his career and return to his family in America. Even if this so-called solution may satisfy the kind of netizens who went as far as starting a petition to drive Jaebum to commit suicide, his sudden departure from the group and the country as well left thousands and thousands of brokenhearted fans in tears.

Even if what he said about Korea was deemed disrespectful, there's a number of facts that netizens who wanted the worse for him chose to ignore.

Jaebum left his family in America and moved to Korea when he was still a teenager ㅡ the change of environment certainly had a big impact on him, as it would on anyone, but his opinion of Korea and its people changed for the better very quickly. In fact, the offending comments in question date back to 2005, but it was revealed that in 2006 he wrote to his friends in America "I want to stay in Korea 1 more year, not as a JYP trainee, but I want to spend it as a Korean." Also, when he recently visited his hometown, he had an interview at a Christian church, in which he spoke well about life in Korea.

However, it is undeniable that whoever disclosed to the public Jaebum's conversation from 2005 only had ill intentions, as they carefully avoided mentioning the aforementioned details. This action was intended to hurt him, and the direct translations of his words turned out to sound twice as worse as the English interpretation.

It is extremely unfair to condemn a person for such a trivial reason, especially if we consider that he grew fond of Korea and wasn't ashamed to admit it in public. Netizens started online petitions demanding JYP (Founder of JYP Entertainment, which is 2PM's management company) to remove Jaebum from the group, to deport him out of the country, and demand Jaebum to commit suicide. The hatred that these events generated is quite inexplicable; Jaebum is now being compared to Yoo Seungjoon (a once very popular Korean idol who fled the country to avoid army duty, and is now considered a traitor and exiled), and comments stating that Jaebum isn't even really Korean are popping up. Fellow group member Wooyoung wrote a note on his cyworld ㅡ in which he supported Jaebum ㅡ but he had to close his account due to the negative response it was receiving. It is sad to see that even his close friends can't help him in this situation because of such cruel netizens.

Before quitting, Jaebum seems to have written a farewell letter on a 2PM fansite, and today he left for Seattle.

It was reported he will be studying music and have a time of reflection. He repeatedly apologized once again, and kept his head bent low the entire time. According to what a news article wrote, he said he hopes to eventually come back as a better person, to show a more mature side, personally and musically.



We, E.L.F., went through numerous tough times the past four years ㅡ we can understand how Hottest (2PM Fanclub) must be feeling right now. Ali, Alice and I, and the rest of the SJ-World Staff as well, want to join hands with all Hottest from all over the world to show them our love and caring support.

Following 2ONEDAY.COM's lead, we choose to have a public thread which can be read even without registering on this forum.

Here you can write messages to Hottest, Jaebum, all 2PM members, and JYPE. Each and every encouraging word from us can make a difference ㅡ even if Jaebum decided to leave, we can still show him, his members, his fans, and his management that he is not alone. We believe in him, and know that 2PM can / will never be the same without him.

Although he might not come back right now, let's show him that we care, and that we want him to smile again.

But I felt something weird..
I overslept this morning and it felt really weird when I was at school..

First I thought that he was going to visit his parents, but since I heard all that screaming and crying..

As a fellow fanclub, we support Park Jaebum or Jay Park no matter what happens. I respect the fact that it is his own decision, but leaving korea in such short notice have shocked everyone, including us ELF.

I feel bad for Hottest, really. Primadonna faced something similar, when Oh Wonbin suddenly left FT Island - so my heart is truly with Hottest.
I was never a 2PM fan - but a lot of my close friends were fans, and seeing them sad, makes me sad. Seeing Jaebeom sad makes me sad.
Should he ever start feeling happier, during his stay in Seattle, I hope, for the sake of Hottest, that he can smilingly return and continue his dream as an artist. Because it is completely wrong for a young man to see no option but to give up on his dream, just because of something he wrote when he was young and struggling.
What would ELF do if this happened to our Hangeng? He was also foreign, trying to catch a break in a new country - I am sure he felt lost and upset sometimes, because of the differences from back home.
Everyone does and says stupid things when they are young - and I think it's unfair, and a shame, that this poor young man is having these messages being held against him.

Wow, I am incredibly shocked at how this situation came about, and even more so at the ramifications and very unfortunate turn of events for Jaebum, 2PM, their fans, and JYPE. I'm really not familiar with Jaebum or 2PM's music, but the impression that I got of him during his co-guesting with Kyuhyun (and Nicole and HyunA) on Maybee radio is that of an artist who is mature, well-rounded, level-headed, humble, and very talented. He seemed like a capable and respected leader, someone who has worked extremely hard to achieve all that he has with 2PM in the past year.

Those people who have chosen to malign Jaebum on 2PM's 1-year anniversary are truly heartless.
But what goes around comes around, and they will get what they deserve in the end.

To Hottest,

I am a huge 2PM myself. I count Hottest as my third in line fan club. Although that may seem a stretch, I really do love 2PM and appreciate everything Hottest do for 2PM and other Hottest, whether it may be supporting them at broadcastings to subbing their shows, I really thank them and appreciate it.
I feel utterly heartbroken about this situation too. I too cried when I saw the fancam of Jay walking through the airport. He looked stressed out and he just wanted a way out of it. The online community are unforgivable this time.
This is the first situation where I have felt this way towards an idol, as before I was not yet an E.L.F during some of the earlier incidents, so I am truly distraught, not to mention you Hottest, who probably feel worse than I do.
I hope you keep your strengths up at this crucial time and keep on supporting the boys as you are doing now.

No matter what the netizens are saying about you, no matter what you think of yourself, you are a great idol, leader and person. This situation was not your fault, and I understand your reasonings for saying what you did. Although I am not training, I grew in a situation similar to yours- a foreign country where you only use little of your origin language. The word "hate" is an often used word in English language, you say it when you don't even truly mean it.
I'll anticipate, wish and await your return to Korea and 2PM.
