Idol group Super Junior's member Leeteuk received severe criticism from some netizens for the incident that occured at the MBC K-pop live concert that was held in the USA. Officials of the program have come forward to explain the situation.

On the 21^st of May, MBC’s "Korean Music Wave in Google" concert which was held in collaboration with Google and Youtube was successfully held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The concert was also streamed live simultaneously throughout the world on Youtube.

As the concert comes to end, all the performing artists came on stage and sang "Arirang" together. After the song ended, Leeteuk who was holding a microphone then said, "Despite the differences in language and appearance, we became one through music". However because SNSD's Taeyeon and Tiffany were the MCs of the show, some netizens criticized Leeteuk for interrupting Tiffany while she was speaking.

In response to this incident, a representative from MBC’s variety show department explained, "The criticism from the netizens is a result of misunderstanding in regards to what happened during the show. In order to sum up the concert properly, the director in charge has requested Leeteuk who has great hosting skills to do the closing for the show."

The representative continued, "The allegations that were made against Leeteuk for interrupting Tiffany from hosting were baseless. The fact that Leeteuk came on stage with a microphone showed that the closing was planned beforehand."

Leeteuk himself has also personally explained the situation through Twitter. Leeteuk said, "They (MBC) have requested for me to say a few words for the ending upon a cue after Arirang ends, (and) I'll apologize if it was wrong to do the closing upon the PD's cue on the program that was streamed live throughout the world."

TVXQ, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, SNSD, Kara, Beast, Mblaq, Sistar and f(x) were all guests of the concert. MBC’s K-Pop channel and Youtube Presents channel which streamed the concert live have recorded 190,000 comments showing overwhelming response from K-Pop fans worldwide. The concert will be broadcasted on MBC at a later date.

I was soooo angry at the people who made such a big deal out it and just couldn't believe that Teuk was asked to close the show. Though I did admit that Teuk interrupting was rude but I kind of thought he didn't know Tiffany was going to continue talking or not, since Tiffany only said "Thank you! ..(gets cut off around here) We Hope to see you soon!" Doesn't seem like she was going to say anything more. Also some people said Teuk shouldn't have talked because USA fans wouldn't understand, obviously they forgot that it was a Korean concert that may be broadcasted in Korea. =/ Haters should back off on Teuk, he was doing his job. >[

i'm glad that MBC tried to clear up the misunderstanding..those haters were so rude to him..i hope that God will forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing..i was wondering why Jungsoo oppa didn't host the show with the other two..but at that time, i also thought that it was a good opportunity for him to take a rest..to be honest, if MBC really wanted to end the show neatly, they should've just made Jungsoo oppa as one of the MCs..if the reason was because he can't speak English, then it was irrelevant..the MCs mostly talked in Korean..!! i also doubted if they had a good coordination between the staffs, performing artists, and also the MCs..for they raised the cue card when Tiffany were still talking..and i think that was the main point which caused this misunderstanding..that's from my point of view, other people might have different opinion..anyway, thanks for translating and sharing the article..i really appreciate it! ^^
